Finally, after a long drought, here is an intelligent book aimed at young South Africans in the eight-to-12 age group.

Vumile and the Dragon is well written and enhanced by exquisite artwork in colour by botanical illustrator Lisa Strachan and halftones by Meg Jordi.

Pat Schwartz – Mail & Guardian March 28 – April 4 2013

Beyond being a story about how a serendipitous find leads three children to exciting discoveries, Vumile and the Dragon also tells us about myth and belief, overcoming fear and provides accurate information about a dwarf chameleon rarely seen in our gardens today.

Superbly illustrated with Lisa Strachan’s detailed and vibrant colour plates, the text is further enhanced by Meg Jordi’s whimsical line and tone illustrations.

Vumile and the Dragon is a must for readers and listeners young and old.
