Robin Stuart-Clark
ROBIN STUART-CLARK was born in Sunderland, England in 1951, brought up in Nyasaland and educated in England, Southern Rhodesia and South Africa. He has a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, and has worked internationally as a graphic designer, illustrator, and writer. He was a member of The Grahamstown Group (1971-76) and has had several solo exhibitions with work in private collections around the world. His illustration work has been featured in print media internationally.
In 2005 he set up Publishing Print Matters (now Print Matters Heritage) publishing books on South African art, craft and heritage focusing on those artists, craftspeople and individuals who have been overlooked. In 2012 he launched a children’s imprint, Bumble Books, to showcase new South African illustrator-authors; nominated in 2015 Bumble Books was awarded The Bologna Children’s Book Fair Best Publisher Africa Region in 2016. The imprint closed in 2023.
Robin is currently working on several of his own graphic projects including children’s books and a graphic novel, Karoo Therapy.
